As they do each year, as part of the Timbers Stand Together week of community service, Portland Timbers and Thorns players and staff met our kids at two locations to join in on weekly sessions of pickup soccer. On Monday June 11, Timbers and Thorns players including Diego Chara and Adrianna Franch showed up at Powell Park in Southeast, and Thursday, June 14 saw Jake Gleeson mixing it up with our young players at McCoy Park in the north end.

Our summer soccer program is critical to our outreach. This year we have weekly programs going at three parks around Portland, where we connect with the children of refugee families and recent immigrants to provide safe play and mentoring.

It means the world to our soccer-loving kids to meet their Timbers and Thorns heroes face to face, and better yet, actually play alongside them. We extend our deepest thanks to the staff and players of the Portland Timbers, Thorns, and T2, for making time in their busy schedules to make memories with our kids.
