As Providence Park prepares to welcome Major League Soccer All-Stars, 4 Worlds United Soccer Alliance (4WU) is vouching for the hospitality offered at the home of the Portland Timbers.
Thanks to the “Tix for Kids” program, eleven enthusiastic 4WU soccer players and their chaperones watched the Portland Timbers beat the Colorado Rapids 2-1 on Friday, July 18, 2014. The boisterous group included kids from Somalia, Kenya, Congo, Nepal and Myanmar. They were selected from a large group of kids who meet weekly during the summer at 4WU’s “Soccer in the Park” games.
“Soccer in the Park” is a forum for those who cannot afford to participate in Portland’s “pay to play” soccer programs to meet and compete with kids from different cultures. These same kids rarely get the opportunity to watch a professional soccer match in person, but the “Tix for Kids” program changes that.
4WU thanks the Portland Timbers and their generous community partners for inviting our talented players to Providence Park. Perhaps their exuberant cheering contributed to the win?
