Sinead Farrelly, a Portland Thorns midfielder, made dreams come true at 4WU’s ThanksKicking Futsal Tournament on November 29 and 30, 2014 at Rose City Futsal. Farrelly stepped on the pitch with a recreational team packed with players who admire her soccer skills. She helped boost the team to a competitive level, making the experience memorable for everyone involved.
Player Julia Tai said, “It’s so fun to watch someone that good up close. Plus, she’s so nice.” Tai’s coach, Chris Ficker, was grateful for Farrelly’s “assist.” Ficker said, “Thank you for allowing me to fulfill my dream of coaching a pro soccer player.” Farrelly’s participation helped make 4WU’s ThanksKicking tournament a success. Money raised at the two-day event will support 4WU’s Summer Soccer Programming.
Thanks to Farrelly and 150 players on 20 teams, 4WU is looking forward to bringing soccer to even more kids from Portland’s most vulnerable communities in 2015.
