Portland’s coolest soccer fest, Barefoot 3×3, was a hot time this year, with the turf temperature topping 150 degrees, but somehow we all survived and had an awesome time!
Four Worlds United was in the thick of the carnival area, running the new-and-improved ball launcher, and spreading the good word about what we do.
From the looks of things, a few thousand kids and families attended–making the 7th year of this amazing event maybe the biggest yet. All of the proceeds go to Grassroot Soccer, an awesome organization that holds soccer events in Africa that provide HIV education. They hold fundraisers around the U.S. but the PDX event is always their biggest, no surprise for Soccer City.
Their mission dovetails beautifully with ours, and we are proud to be a part of Barefoot 3×3 each year.

Kids played in socks until the turf got too hot!

Bubble soccer starts serious, but doesn’t stay that way.

Kids mostly want send each other spinning.
We ran the ball launcher, always popular!

Kids headed the spongy balls into the goal to win prizes. We had a steady line of kids all day.

Grassroots Soccer founder Ethan Zohn (right) was there all day. That’s yours truly on the left.

Lots of games at the soccer carnival!
