Our hard-working board members met 50 kids and their families at one of our summer soccer locations to hand out the equipment the young players will need for 2017. It always feels amazing to see the kids smile big when they get the perfect cleats, socks, shinguards, duffel bags and even warmup clothes for the sport they love. Moms and Dads smile even bigger knowing their kids are geared up and ready to go.
Board member Meghan Pence did all the planning for the Feb. 7 event at Vance Park near Gresham, helped by her son Eric, who solicited donations all through his soccer season. Eric brought collection containers to each home game, and Oregon City High School donated more than thirty duffel bags and two sets of uniforms. Eric also shopped for what was missing, and got a family friend to provide shoes/cleats from the Nike factory store.
It’s this kind of hard work that makes Four Worlds happen. We’ll do the same thing all over again very soon at one of our other three summer locations. And we are always looking for donations. Thanks to our friends at Nike, Adidas, NEU and other leagues for many years of gear and goodwill.
